Youth Voices

Youth Voices is an International AIDS Society advocacy campaign to strengthen, support and amplify the voices of young people on current HIV-related debates, issues and trends to influence policy makers, funders and healthcare providers to improve services for young people, including young people living with HIV and young key populations. When the campaign was launched in 2016, it provided a platform for youth living with and affected by HIV to connect with their global peers through exchanging experiences on current topical issues. They shared their messages through films and blog posts, on social media and at the 21st International AIDS Conference in Durban (AIDS 2016). I was the photographer on the project for 2016/2017 in partnership with The Children’s Radio Foundation and Makhulu Media. We met brave activists from South Africa, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Tanzania, Malawi, and Zanzibar who all were fighting for the rights of young people affected by HIV/AIDS.
